Think about times you've led or helped lead a group — a team, a club, a group project, a job. Rate how much each statement describes how you tend to act in those situations. If you haven't led a group before, answer based on how you think you'd act. There are no right or wrong answers. Use the 1–7 scale:

1 = Strongly disagree  ·  4 = Neither disagree nor agree  ·  7 = Strongly agree

Scores below are on a 1–7 scale (1 = low, 7 = high) across six leadership behavior styles.

About this adaptation

The original Transformational Leadership Inventory (TLI) is a 360°-style instrument where followers rate their supervisor. Since Lens only has your own perspective, we've adapted the same 23 items into a first-person self-report ("I..." instead of "My supervisor..."), preserving each item's meaning. This is a common and accepted adaptation approach in leadership research, but treat your six scores as a self-perceived leadership style, not a validated 360° leadership assessment.

Transformational leader behaviors and their effects on followers' trust in leader, satisfaction, and organizational citizenship behaviors. Leadership Quarterly, 1(2), 107–142. Chosen over commercially-licensed alternatives (e.g. the MLQ) because it is a peer-reviewed academic scale, not a paid proprietary instrument.
